The Hensard Centre for Environment and Climate Research (HCECR) is a distinguished research institution dedicated to deepening the understanding of environmental dynamics and climate change. As a trusted consultant to the Nigerian Senate committee on Ecology and Climate Change, HCECR plays a pivotal role in shaping policies and strategies that mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change, support biodiversity conservation, and promote sustainable development practices across Nigeria and beyond. HCECR’s robust research agenda covers a wide range of critical focus areas. Our efforts in Climate Change research delve into the intricate impacts, adaptation mechanisms, and mitigation strategies necessary for vulnerable communities. Our work in Environmental Science and Sustainable Development explores innovative pathways and solutions, including ecosystem services valuation, biodiversity conservation, and renewable energy development. The center also actively contributes to Water Resources management, Environmental Policy formulation, and Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives to build resilience in affected regions. Through its comprehensive short courses, professional Masters, and Ph.D. programs, HCECR is dedicated to cultivating thought leaders, policymakers, and practitioners who drive sustainable progress.
